How to choose to show or not show images in Gmail

1. Log in Gmail.
2. In the top right of Gmail page, click Settings (gear icon).
3. Now click at Settings.
4. Click to Scroll down to the "Images" section.
5. Click to select Always display external images or Ask before displaying external images. If you choose the "Ask before displaying external images" setting tab, emails that have images will have a "Display images below" option.
6. At the bottom of the Gmail page, click Save Changes button.

Note: If Gmail thinks a sender or email is suspicious, you won’t see images automatically. Instead, you'll be asked if you want to see the photo.

How Google email helps make images safe

To help load images or images safely, images go through Google's image proxy servers and are transcoded before they're delivered.

This makes photos safer because:

• Senders can’t use image or photos loading to get information like your IP address or ip location.
• Senders can’t use the photo to set or read cookies in your web browser.
• Google email checks the images for known viruses or malware issues.

In the case, senders may be able to know whether you've opened massages that have an image attached to a unique link. Gmail scans every email for suspicious content, and if Gmail considers a sender or message potentially suspicious, images won’t be shown and you’ll be asked whether you want to see the images.
